The puppies are little wrigglers and are getting about by paddling all over the whelping box. Maggie is settling into being a Mummy really well. I am so proud of her.
She is very relaxed with them in the whelping box, feeds them, then when they are asleep she will whine and then poke them to check they are ok! Bless her.
Grandma Molly is very keen to meet her Grandchildren, Maggie is not quite ready for visitors though!
Here is a picture of Maggie with her beautiful pups. A picture of contentment!
Here is Mr Yellow being weighed!
I have added more photos to the puppy album
Our beautiful puppies, a day old! I have weighed them and they have all put on weight with one of them now being over a pound in weight!
They are fairly strong – paddling around the whelping box and are fairly vocal with it!
Maggie initially didn’t want any of the adult dogs anywhere near the whelping box, but she is starting to relax more and the dogs know they can venture a little nearer.
I have created an album for the puppies, if you click on Maggies Puppies 2015 you will see the new photos. Im still in the process of loading on todays photos – it is taking forever!!!!
We have six beautiful puppies and Maggie is doing a fabulous job. It is amazing how mother nature works and the natural instincts kick in.
Maggie started first stage labour yesterday afternoon, was very quiet but panting periodically. The nesting instincts were increasing as she fussed over a variety of beds.
This morning she was sick a few times as the contractions had started to get stronger. When she had contractions she hid her head into the edge of Charlies bed – poor girl. I am so very proud of her, I had worried about how she would cope with labour – but cope she did and she is doing fabulously.
Maggie decided that the best place to have her puppies was in Charlie’s bed! We were able to move Maggie and her puppies after she had four pups.

Will update when I can. Maggie is being a brilliant mum!! What a star!
The whelping box has been put up and we are all ready to go!
Here is Maggie at 58 days… not long to go now!
Here are the cute collars that I have ordered for the puppies!
I have also been able to take another video clip of Maggies tummy!
Maggie is looking lovely and healthy. The pups are moving about and very easy to feel from the outside of her tummy. We can also see the movement very easily. This evening, finally I got to hear puppy heartbeat – the heartbeat is very fast – and so magical to hear!
The puppies will now be roughly 15cm long, the hair will be growing and the pads will have formed.
Maggie is sleeping heavily and having active dreams – poor girl – she is making lots of little noises the last few evenings. Her pregnancy hormones are having an impact on her sleeping! Which…. has to be said – I am now in puppy mode as I am now dreaming about puppies too!
Maggie has been doing a little bit of nesting but she isn’t in labour yet. She has just felt the need to scratch up her bed every evening which is something she has never done before.
My dear Maggie is definitely feeling the heat, so I am using a towelling bandana soaked in water to help cool her down. I need to come up with an idea to help her tummy!
I have finally managed to get a video clip of the puppies moving around. The movement is becoming more and more pronounced now.
In the video above…. at approx 7 or 8 seconds you will see a puppy moving (centre section of lower part of the screen).
In the video above, t roughly 11 seconds the puppy movement is in the top section of the screen.
It is a matter of days now before our wonderful puppies will be arriving. I have everything ready apart from one very important piece of equipment – the whelping box. This will be going up on Wednesday.
