Five Weeks Old and introducing our Puppy…

We have made a decision which black girl we are keeping….. drumroll…..

Maggie.

Maggie is part of our future plans for Marchstone Labradors.  Dependant on how she develops and her health test results we do hope to have puppies with her to carry on Molly’s line.

Just a small update for now….

Just thought I would let you know how proud I am of the puppies today – we had a completely clean pen overnight.  All wees and poos in the garden!!!! WOOP WOOP!!! (poo patrol was an easier task today!)

Be impressed!  Lets hope it continues!

They are full of joy, cuddles and mischief – perfect puppies in everyway.

My darling girl Katherine comes home today – so hopefully the photos may improve as I am under constant attack when I am trying to get photos.  It is almost as though they see the camera and think “GET HER” as they all charge at me for cuddles and play!

Follow The Leader!

Follow The Leader

A game that is often played at Marchstone.  Normally it is with Katherine and the puppies following her, which I am sure we will all look forward to seeing videos of Katherine playing this game with the puppies, but in the meantime here is Molly and Melvin playing the game!

Follow the leader

We have had the puppies out in the living room for plenty of playtime and also in the garden for wees and poos.  We are being successful with getting the poos outside, the wees are a bit hit and miss at the moment.    The weather is not particularly on our side at the moment.  Still…..we are getting some wees outside so it is a start!  I left a newspaper on the floor and a couple of puppies during their playtime went and widdled on the paper.  So unless you want your newspaper to be widdled on then don’t leave it on the floor!

Chaos!

Today was worming day.  I routinely weigh the puppies up to three weeks for a very specific reason.  They are so active that it is difficult weighing them as they get bigger.  From the age of three weeks I weigh them weekly.

Ordinarily I have my helper with me when it comes to worming day.  I was on my own and I have to say had I of been able to watch the chaos as a spectator it would have been rather funny!

As fast as I put a puppy in the weighing scales another was getting in and the original pup was getting out, another puppy was playing with my clipboard and pen – so I was finding it hard to take down notes.  Finally some sense of order came amid the chaos and I was able to take down their weights (in grams…. I have to do it in grams on worming day for the correct dose…. my usual weights for the puppies is in pounds and ounces!!!).

Then the time came to worm them, resulting in me being stained in pink syrup!  I cleaned the puppies as I put them back into the pen, only to notice that the yellow pups and a black pup were somehow still covered in pink syrup!!!

I cleaned them all up, again, and gave them their lunch with scrambled egg! NOM NOM!

The pups are fine, I don’t like the worming as it can upset their stomachs but so far so good we have had some good poos from three and I am waiting on the other four to see how their tummies are doing!

As a breeder I have always been proud of the puppies doing good poos.  It is worth noting that pups should NOT routinely have soft mr whippy poos!

I have had the puppies playing in the living room – charging up and down, it seems we also have a naughty corner!  As the pups like to congregate on the dog bed, which is a difficult place to take photos of them! (bad lighting!).

I have put some more photos in the gallery.

The puppies have had fun today!

The pups have stepped up a gear, they are now rather fast!  We have had a smashing day playing in the garden which then ended up with four puppies falling asleep in my cardigan.  It is so sweet they slide into my cardigan and find their way to the back and snuggle up with each other!

They have also had playtime indoors.  Melvin adores his little brothers and sisters as he is now playing even more with them.  The puppies are getting used to how Melvin is playing and creeping up to him to have a chew on his tail!

Here is a little video clip of my puddings “up a gear” in speed!

Photos have been added to the gallery!  (lots!!!)

Toilet training is coming on well!  We are trying to focus on getting them out as often as we can – which is of benefit to the puppy and  the owner.

Tomorrow is worming day – so hopefully it will pass by uneventfully!

Melvin is loving his new job – babysitting!!

I have managed to get a few videos today.  Melvin has been playing with the puppies.  He is very gentle but they are a little unsure of him!

I simply love the video with Peaches pawing at Melvin’s nose and him giving her kisses!

Melvin loves playing with the kids!

I have added photos to the puppies gallery.

Despite the weather being so horrid, the little pups are doing really well with regard their toilet training.

We are getting the majority of the poos outside now and quite a lot of the wees too!!

GOOD PUPS!!

Lights! Camera! ACTION……

a lovely little black girl - Miss Purple!

I have been a film producer this afternoon, then after a busy day of filming I spent time, laying on the floor, playing with the pups then cuddling them, they fell asleep on me (shame I didn’t get a picture) I had two pups on my legs, one on my back and two cuddled up to me on my head!    The sort of puppy cuddle you just cannot beat!

I need my helper back!!!

I am trying so hard to get some photos – but I need Katherine!!!  The puppies just rush towards me everytime I try and get a picture!  Katherine is away on holiday and is back home on Sunday.  So for the time being – my puppy followers will have to make do with whatever I manage to get!  (this applies to videos as I am ambushed when trying to video the little squeeks!).

Suffice to say the development of the puppies is totally up to speed.  Speed being the operative word where we are being kept on our toes!

Miss Pink comes over to say hello!!

Melvin has been playing with the puppies today.  He loves them so much.  He gives them plenty of kisses and plays very gently with them!

Beautiful Miss Purple

I will continue to attempt to get the perfect photo of each puppy – my main problem at the moment is that as soon as the camera comes out, they ALL rush towards me and I am ambushed!!!  I need my helper!!!! Katherine is away on holiday at the moment – so any photos you get for the next week will all be down to pure luck!  As Katherine helps keep the puppies at a reasonable distance long enough for a photo!

The puppies are rather nifty on their little paws and we are now developing a walk that involves learning how to trip up without falling over so that we can change direction very swiftly when taking a full step!!
