Molly with her babies

First born girl  – wearing a peach coloured collar
Second born boy – wearing a pale blue collar
Third born boy – wearing a white collar
Fourth born boy – wearing a red collar

Traditionally our first borns have been boys so it is a nice surprise to have a girl as our first born.  Ordinarily we usually have some black pups – so this is all a bit new to us having an entirely yellow litter!

Katherine has been a fabulous help, as always.  Fetching things for me without any hesitation.  Watching Molly when I have needed her to.  Taking notes of when the contractions came and also writing down the weights for me.  I am so proud of her for being able to think on her feet and be so readily helpful.  GREAT JOB KATHERINE

The Pups are feeding well and Molly is being a great Mum :0)

Final Tally at Four Yellow Pups!

We have four beautiful yellow puppies.  A girl and 3 boys.  Unfortunately no black babies for us this time.  I will be getting Molly and her pups checked at the vets later this morning as I need to get the splint modified!  I then hope to get a bit of sleep! ;0)

Molly is in early labour!

Molly is now nesting and also hiding under the kitchen table, bless her.  Things are starting to move along as she is now panting too.  This first stage can take twelve hours.

I will update when I can!

Molly is now 61 days pregnant!

This is the nail biting time and we are watching Molly like a hawk.  No obvious signs of impending whelp just yet.  Her last litter were born at 61 days and her first litter at 63 days.  (They can go up to 71 days though this is unusual).    I have now taken up my “post” on the sofa to keep on eye on my lovely Molls.  We have 12 days, left of her needing the splint on.  We will all be very glad to see the back of it!

Molly, my sweetie – good luck, not long to go now!xXx

A picture taken yesterday…. Molly is in fine condition (despite her leg!)

60 days

Molly at 57 days pregnant.

Molly is now 57 days pregnant.  Her tummy feels very full indeed.  When she is laying down, the sides of her tummy are very weighty!  Molly is very happy and content, though probably very fed up with her splint.  We have had a bit of a problem with the splint in as much it snapped in half.  The new splint and dressing didnt last very long at all and in the meantime Molly gained a sore on the inside of her elbow.  This sore is now healing nicely.

The pups development  at 8 weeks will mean they now have hair and pads on their feet.  They should be approximately 150mm.  They have one week left of growing – so Molly’s tummy is yet to get bigger!

The photo below doesnt convey how big her tummy is, to us she is getting very big.  But to anyone else she just looks like a fat lab.  I used to be able to put both my hands around her waist and touch fingertips! (thumb and middle finger to make a circle is Molly’s usual waist size!!)

Video Clip of Molly’s Tummy!

Molly is now 53 days pregnant.  For a couple of days I have been able to see the movements of her tummy from the other side of the living room!  Here is a small clip of Molly’s tummy – you can see some kicks from the puppies!  (click on the link.. you may need to increase the brightness on your screen to view this).

Molly is happy in herself and luckily for us very patient with her dressing. The vet has promised he will do a complete dressing change on Friday, the splint will have been on for four weeks by then.

We are now in the latter stages of Molly’s pregnancy.  Her diet has been changed to puppy to give her a higher protein content.
